Sugar Shane started his professional career in 1993. By 2000, he had fought 34 times, recording a 34–0 (32-by way of knockout!) record, beating undefeated Phillip Holiday to win the IBF Lightweight title. He made 9 title defenses, but never unified belts. Mosley gave up his lighweight title to move up 2 divisions, facing Oscar De La Hoya for his Welterweight title. Mosley won, but later in 2003, admitted to using the banned drug EPO in preparation for the De la Hoya bout.
Mayweather entered into professional career on October 11, 1996 against fellow newcomer Roberto Apodaca whom he knocked out in round 2. In 1999, Mayweather won his first world title, the WBC junior lightweight (130 lb) championship against Genaro Hernandez when his corner stopped the fight after round 8. Hernandez had never been defeated at the weight class.
As expected, Mayweather brings out the dope issue on Mosley.
“I can’t say how many fights Shane has won in the past because we know Shane was using enhancement drugs. That’s something we do know,” he said as quoted by the Associated Press.
“It’s no different than Pacquiao. I offered Pacquiao the fight. I said, ‘We’ll give you $25 million.’ I never met a man who wouldn’t take a $25 million drug test,” continued Mayweather.
